Bill and Kitty Minter began their Paso Fino breeding farm in 1973 in Lexington, NC. The farm eventually became known as Caballo de USA. They attended their first national show that same year and began showing the following year. Bill has competed in every national show since 1974, winning championship awards each year. He and then partner, the late Raven Briggs, worked together to win over 300 Grand National Championships and Grand National Reserve Championships. Bill was a Senior Certified Paso Fino Horse Judge of the Paso Fino Owners and Breeders Association and judged at the 1985 World Cup championship in Cidra, Puerto Rico. Alcon was an early foundation stallion for Caballo de USA. Born in Colombia, South America in 1981, Alcon was imported to the US as a yearling. He went on to become the youngest stallion, at age 9, to be recognized as number one on the Top Ten Sire list. Alcon remained on the Top Ten Sire list for 5 years. His offspring have done extremely well in the show ring with numerous grand and reserve grand champions at regional and national levels in Bella Forma, Fino, Performance and Pleasure. Alcon was awarded National Get of Sire Champion in 1989,1990,1992,1993 and 1994. |
